Thirteen Indonesian National Army (TNI) from Infantry Battalion 411 of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) Salatiga tortured five civilians. This incident occurred at the Yon 411 Kostrad dormitory in Salatiga, Central Java Province on 1 September 2022.
It started with an incident that happened to Pratu Roni Waluyo, a member of Battalion 411 Kostrad Salatiga. A pick-up truck nudged his motorcycle, causing his pregnant wife to fall off the bike. Pratu Roni tried to chase the car with five people in it and wanted to stop it. However, the driver and four colleagues persecuted him at Taman Makam Pahlawan Street, Blauran, Salatiga. TNI Pangkostrad Lieutenant General Maruli Simanjuntak on 2 September 2022, said the perpetrators were drunk at the time. After the incident, some TNI members at Yon 411 Kostrad Salatiga searched for the car’s driver. They brought them to the Yon 411 Kostrad Salatiga dormitory and tortured them. One of the victims died, and four others were seriously injured.
Thirteen Kostrad members met the preliminary evidence as perpetrators. Military Police Commander of Kodam (Pomdam) IV Diponegoro Colonel CPM Rinoso Budi on 9 September 2022, that 13 TNI members have become suspects. If referring to the statement of the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa, the thirteen Kostrad members are suspected of the article of persecution that caused death.
