KNPB again faces police obstruction in the Mamberamo Tengah Regency.

Some days after a joint police and military forces entered the KNPB secretariat in Mamberamo Tengah to inquire and ensure the legality of an event being prepared, intimidation happened again.  On 1 December 2023, as KNPB activists were preparing banners to commemorate the “Papuan Independence Day”, armed police officers under the command of the Deputy Chief of Police of Papua arrived at the location. They entered the KNPB regional secretariat in Mamberamo Tengah at around 8:30 AM and disrupted the worship preparations.

The police took issue with the image of the Morning Star flag on the door of the KNPB secretariat. Therefore, the Deputy Chief of Police ordered police officers to immediately remove the image of the Morning Star flag motif from the door of the KNPB secretariat.

The Deputy Chief of Police then personally oversaw the removal of the Morning Star flag image from the door of the KNPB secretariat in the Mamberamo Central region.
