Police arbitrarily detain Papua woman in Dekai, Yahukimo

Police officers allegedly arrested Mrs Keistina Selak, 23, (see photo on top, source: JPIC Kingmi Papua) at the old market in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, on 9 April 2024. According to the information received, Mrs Selak was on her way home after getting the groceries when police officers intercepted her and took her to the Yahukimo District Police station. The officers reportedly failed to provide a warrant authorising the arrest as required under the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). It is not known if the police pressed charges against her.
