On 29 June 2026, security forces reportedly shot dead Rev Elianus Agimbau, 20, a pastor of the Indonesian Tabernacle Church (GKII), whilst travelling through the Mbamogo Village area, located on the border between the Sugapa and the Agasiga districts.

Two separate land disputes involving PT Inti Kebun Sejahtera (PT IKS) escalated in June 2026 as former transmigration residents in Klasof Village, Moisegen District, and members of the Moi indigenous Aresi clan sought legal remedies over alleged unlawful occupation and use of their land for oil palm plantations.

On 17 June 2026, 20-year-old indigenous Yosan Suhuniap was reportedly tortured and subsequently executed after being captured by joint security force personnel in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency.

A 19-year-old civlian, Mr Makelon Majau, was reportedly injured during alleged Indonesian military drone strikes targeting Balamai Village in Hitadipa District, Intan Jaya Regency, on 22 June 2026.

Indonesian military personnel (TNI) allegedly entered the private residence (pastoran) of the Three Kings Cathedral (Katedral Tiga Raja) in Timika without authorisation during security operations surrounding the visit of the Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
